Since its establishment, the firm has been involved in cutting edge litigation and legal work which has include:-
- Involvement in a number of major constitutional cases including a challenge to the regime of compulsory fuel blending in Zimbabwe, various constitutional applications seeking to outlaw the death penalty, applications to protect women and children including an application against corporal punishment.
- Involved in major constitutional work to compel the Government to comply with key provisions of the Constitution including the obligation to respect the provisions of the Constitution dealing with the devolution as well as setting up the complaints commission against security forces defined in Section 210 of the Constitution.
- Ground breaking landmark constitutional cases which judgments have recently been handed down in the matters of (a) Loveness Mudzuru and Another v Minister of Justice & Others CCZ 15/2015 (being a case in which the Constitutional Court of Zimbabwe outlawed child marriages), (b) Nyika & Another v Minister of Home Affairs & Others HC 181-16 (being a matter in which the High Court struck down Section 70 of the Police Act which required legal proceeding against the police to be brought within the restrictive time period of 6 months).
- Involved in major litigation around land and the protection of land owners rights against unlawful State interference or acquisitions.
- Attending to conveyancing matters including transfers and registration of mortgage bonds and notarial bonds for and on behalf of a leading real estate company and two of the country’s major Banks
- Drafting commercial agreements including Shareholders’ Agreements, Deeds of Partnership, Deeds of Trust and Memorandum of Agreements.
- Provision of advice to a major listed company on corporate restructuring;
- Providing a number of companies with business advice in their relations and disputes with the Government, capitalizing on the Senior Partner’s erstwhile position as Minister of Finance.
- Providing advice to the country’s biggest retailer in a number of matters including unlawful delisting from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
- Providing several corporates and white owned businesses on the indigenisation and empowerment legislation and compliance thereto;
- Advising an indigenous Bank on downsizing and restructuring in light of the new capital requirements and the current liquidity challenges;
- Advising embassies, foreign investors and interacting with Government in respect of the requirements of the Zimbabwean Investment Authority;
- Advising corporates on retrenchments and labour disputes in the current environment in the country;
